Le Bijou  de Paris

Off-Broadway show performed at the prestigious Chain Theatre in Manhattan, New York City. Directed by Edoardo Tesio and Produced by Company Della Luna

Synopsis:

Le Bijou de Paris, which debuted Off-Broadway at Chain Theatre, is a high-energy pop-theater show which tells the tale of a fashion boutique housing eleven living mannequins. Hiding from a war created by humans, the mannequins must never leave the boutique, for fear of being captured and killed.

Having never seen the outside world, or anyone besides each other, they are forced to struggle with very human problems: loneliness, love, the nuances of sexuality and the LGBT+ experience, friendship, forgiveness, and finding their purposes in life.

What better way to cope with the stress of it all than to turn the boutique into one big party?

Press:

"Le Bijou de Paris is a highly entertaining mix of drama, comedy, music, dance, social commentary, and just a dash of fantasy.  Let’s hope that this buzzing boutique soon gets a grand re-opening!"

"Coco’s fears are challenged by another charismatic living mannequin, Roger, played by the equally charismatic actor Ary Satish"

"All the performers have their moments, although Tesio as Gianni, Murillo as Coco, Ary Satish as Roger, Anna Barrett as Donatella, and Samuel Leon as Valentino are standouts."

It was a morning like every other morning. Except for Gregor Samsa. He woke up to discover that he had turned into a giant bug. Would he be able to come to terms with this new form and get on with his life? Would his family accept him? Gregor grapples with these questions, and his extra set of limbs, in Readings in the Shed's adaptation of Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis. This reading performance is complemented by a movement choreography that illustrates Samsa's internal struggle with himself and his place in the social structure.
